This ticket was created after a discussion with Peter Halliday (arXiv). I
agree that this is not a trivial operation and that it should be done
cautiously. But when moving a system, we need to keep the same properties
of our records and just can't reset all the creation and modification
dates to the date of upload to Invenio.
Keeping the dates in the MARC might be sufficient but there will then be 4
dates attached to each record. When a record is modified in Invenio, what
happens to the modification date in MARC? Which date do we then display?
It seems to me that moving everything to the bibrec table is easier. The
initial upload would be followed by the usual tasks where all the records
are considered new. I don't see where that would cause a problem.
