I agree that the original creation date should be in bibrec, and I don't
think there will be any major problems with this. I was more concerned
about the modification date and automatically grabbing it from a MARC tag.
Doing this at the beginning of a migration and then running all the
necessary tasks on all the records would make perfect sense (and now that
I read carefully the ticket I see that you were actually referring to this
specific case.. in my defense, it's very late:) ) What I was skeptic about
was having/using a method that does this to any imported records, at any
time (ex: every time there is a bibupload, try to get the actual dates
from MARC and insert them to bibrec).. which might mess up the way some
modules update their data.
