You are right. Better seperation of the mathematics from the parsing
and the output generation is something else that we need to do.
If you've not already done so, you might want to read the
documentation in doc/pspp-dev.texinfo ; it's woefully incomplete, but
will give you some idea of some aspects of the source which are
reasonably stable.
