Hi John, You can use your f keys 1 2 3 or 4 to select edit modes. Also when holding down shift and then hitting your f keys you can select both grid and slip or shuffle. This is a fast way to combine edit modes! :) This is what probably happened to you the other day. If grid gets stuck in a selected state, use your mouse and command click on it and select the other grid mode this should clear the selection. If that don't work try selecting the Zoomer tool then repeat the other steps. This was rather quirky but its all doable! YMMV
