Hi, Yes I did read that message but think what he meant was before you
open a session check on the play back engine as this is what I do before
I use the internal hardware. Nick Gawronski

Nick,
You're not understanding my question. I totally get! that is where to
set the playback engine in ProTools, but, if you read Kevin's response
again, you'll notice that he mentions setting this first before
starting ProTools. So, what I'm saying is, how am I supposed to set
that, if I don't have PT first running in the first place. Does that
make more since?
In other words, if ProTools isn't running to start with, then how am I
going to get to the playback engine dialog? Also, which device in
there do I need to pick specifically, considering that it has internal
microphone, built in output, and Airplay as 3 totally seperet
devices? I'm not sure if it has an agregate device in there or not.
I don't recall there being one, but, I'll look again later today.
Chris.

Hi, Go into pro tools then in the setup menu in pro tools go to the play
back engine menu selection and there you will find it. Nick Gawronski

How can I check my main playback engine before starting ProTools?
Are you saying to go into system prefs, sounds, then make sure it's
correctly set?

Nope. This has happened to me. No biggie. This happens whenever you
boot pro tools, and it’s main interface is not present. If you know
you’re gonna have to do that, just check your Playback engine before
starting so you’re all good.
