Hi Nickus,

The advantage of a track pad is that, when you go to perform a click, all you
have to do is touch the surface anywhere on the track pad and you'll be
successful. the problem with the mouse is that, when you go to touch it, you
might accidentally move the mouse before clicking. It's not reliable enough.
Yes, it works in a pinch but I personally couldn't live with that day in and
day out. The track pad is stationary and large. It won't move when you get your
bearings and it doesn't move after you've pressed it. To me, it's more reliable
and consistent. Since its active range is fixed in a physical dimension, it's
possible to touch a specific point and move the focus to that area of the
screen more reliably than having to move a mouse which is only relative to the
mouse's travel rather than an actual physical point. I tend not to use the
track pad for those purposes but it's certainly possible to use it that way and
some folks might find that really helpful. For example, in the Mix window, you
can touch, say, the right side of the track pad and you'll hear the names of
tracks that appear toward the right side of the Mix window. Rather than
starting from the left with voiceOver and moving through all of the tracks, the
track pad allows you to more quickly focus on that right side area to begin
with. Once you've located the track, you can then pick up with keyboard
commands. The same holds true for other windows. Again, I typically don't use
it that way but it's entirely possible and others might prefer that method.

Cheers,

Slau
