I'm trying to run it with pt 11.2. I
know I'm going to have to go for version 12, I just need to wait a little
while to get the money together.

Hey Gord,
My system has been running El Capitan and ProTools 12.4 for A couple months
now just fine. Just for your information… :-)
Take care,

Ok, I did that, but when I tried to
open PT I got a message that it could not be opened because it wasn't
responding. I restarted my system and when I tried to open PT I got a
status window and a message that said verifying but that was it. I'm
beginning to think that it just doesn't like el capitan.

Gordon,
After you open the DMG I hilite the actual app, command, option, w which
closes out all Windows. Next once on the Macintosh HD, navigate and
highlite the Applications folder and command-v.
My finder view is set to columns but this is a personal preference.
I should have said when you highlite the app, command c to copy.

In the installation instructions for
v11, they tell you to open the dmg file, and then to drag the pro tools
app to the applications alias. How do you do that? Just opening the pro
tools app after copying to my applications folder doesn't work.

i think v11 was when they switched to .app file and you didn't have
to run an installer anymore. could be remembering wrong but if you
open the DMG and its just a .app file copy it to your applications
folder and launch it and see what happens.

Thanks. They have a compatibility chart up
there and from what I can tell, version 10 would never work on el
capitan.
I guess I should bite the bullet and get v12. I’ll have to wait a week
or
so, the bread is a little tight right now. I guess I should have gone up
and gotten the upgrade when it was available cheaper. And yes, I
certainly
do want to take advantage of the accessibility improvements.

Hi Gordon,
There were around 50 improvements in version 12.2. Since you were last
using
11, I'd imagine the whole subscription thing passed you by. Your copy of
11
will still work but you'll need to go for either a subscription model or
purchase a perpetual license. It works out cheaper to get the
subscription
and you'll probably get some extra plug-ins to boot. I suppose your best
bet
is to speak with Sweetwater. Let us know how it pans out, so to speak.
Best,
Slau

After a long hiatus, I finally got my mac book
pro
repaired. This involved replacing the hard drive and other components.
So
I have a very generic installation of el capitan. IThe latest version of
PT
I have is version 11, which at that time I had running on Maverick. This
was an upgrade from a version 9/10 bundle. When I try to open the disk
image of pt11, I don’t see the installation program. I know this has
been
discussed at length, but I didn’t pay attention. So, do I need to
install
PT10 first and then run the upgrade to 11, or do I need to get version 12
to
run this on el capitan? I probably should go ahead and get 12 anyway,
since
there have been some accessibility improvements, but I just wanted to get
things going now before shelling out more bread. Thanks for any help.
