Hi all,

I realize that I'm the ogre on the list and that I take every opportunity to
blast the PTR when it fails me, and believe me it does lots of times. On the
other hand, given my immediate needs, I do have to say that I'm currently
editing a book and this little machine is freakin amazing!!! I have taken a
book on cassette with 0 structure and made it navigable in all sorts of
ways. I can now access information incredibly quickly. That is, in the past,
when reading through textbooks on cassette read by readers at school I had
no manner of marking text for future reference. I can now do this in more
ways than I need. my challenge went from: "How can I refer to this in the
future?" to: "Which navigation tool should I use?" there was a little bit of
a learning curve given that I had to figure it all out without the use of
the illegible User's Manual, but I managed to figure it all out with many of
your messages I saved. I like to call my backpack my brain because it has
all my books and school stuff in there, but I may now have to start calling
the PTr my brain because I can foresee me carrying all my newly formatted
and structured books in there via PC cards. Big huge thank you to Andrew for
teaching me how to back up my books. thank you Pam Jamie and Dave for the
recording information and tips. thank you Guido for the k1000 textual
editing/recording information, and thank you to a couple of others I'm
currently drawing a blank on.

PS: don't be fooled by this message because though I'm smiling at what I can
now do, I'm sure I'll be just as grumpy in a few days so beware.

J Garcia
