Sorry for not getting back sooner on this.

The bug of files not playing unless you create more than one directory
for MP3 files and don't use the root only concerns randomised playback
of the MP3 files, it shouldn't be an issue if you are playing them
sequentially.  How large are these files, and is it possible to send
them to me for closer inspection (please speak with me off list before
doing this).

Files in the root directory have proved a problem with the PTR1 - one
way round this is to create several folders with so many in each folder,
so getting them off the root, and then the PTR1 will recognise the
folders, and hopefully play the tracks. however, that said, I found that
certain files that were mpeg1 layer 1 would not play, they had to be
layer 3. Anyway, hope that's some kind of help.
