Hi J -

MP3 files are data CDs, and will only play on ordinary CD players that have
the capability to play these files. Although more and more home CD players
can play MP3 files, it's far from true to say that they all can, and older
players won't be able to.

If then you want a music cd that will play on all home systems, you need to
hook up your cassette player to the line-in on your PTR1, and then hit the
record button, and you'll hear "Please wait", and you'll be given feedback
on how hte PTR1 is set up for recording. If you then press the number 5 key,
it will tell you that you are set to record from line-in, so press the
pound key [right of 0], and then you can use the 4 and 6 keys to move to the
music menu, and in there you can either select MP3 128, which like it says,
will give you an MP3 file that you could play on your PTR1, in your PC, or
any MP3 player. Recording in this format, you will get something like 12
hours on a blank disk, in reasonable stereo recording. If though, like I
think, you want a propper music CD, then you'll need to select 44.1 MHZ
sterio from the music menu, this will only give you about 74 minutes of
recording, but of CD quality, but this does depend on the quality of your
source recording. This disk, you can then play in all CD players.

Hope all the above is correct and helps.

Andy
