Michael,

Thanks for the update - I'll need to give it a try as that sounds really
useful. I think that the whole confusion would have been significantly
reduced if, in the PRS particularly, there were 3 distinct modes that you
could switch through rather than the "Insert" feature being buried under the
mode called "Punch in".

Anyway, thanks for the tip on overwriting with the PTR1.

Jamie

Hello Jamie,

Actually, you can overwrite with the PTR1: When you made a mistake,
press the record key to pause the recording. Now, go back as many
phrases as you want by briefly pressing the back key. You can also go
forward by phrase with the forward key. If you found the phrase you want
to overwrite, just press record again to start recording. The PTR1 will
overwrite all phrases after the current phrase and the current phrase
itself. This only works when one is recording. One cannot overwrite,
after one has stopped a recording. In such a case, one would have to
delete the phrases, one doesn't want to be in the title first. I use
this overwrite function extensively and find it extremely useful. If I
talk about something and make a mistake, I don't have to stop the
recording, which I have to do with any other recorder. I just pause it,
go back one or two phrases (the PTR1 of course plays the phrases, while
one goes backward or forward) and then overwrite my mistake. It took
some time, until I got used to it. The PTR1 overwrites at the beginning
of a phrase. So normally, there already will be a breathing pause before
the overwrite. Now, if one breathes first, when one starts the overwrite,
there may be two breathings on the recording. If one keeps that in mind,
the overwrite function of the PTR1 is wonderful.
