Michael, Thanks for the update - I'll need to give it a try as that sounds really useful. I think that the whole confusion would have been significantly reduced if, in the PRS particularly, there were 3 distinct modes that you could switch through rather than the "Insert" feature being buried under the mode called "Punch in".
Anyway, thanks for the tip on overwriting with the PTR1. The PTR1 overwrites at the beginning of a phrase. So normally, there already will be a breathing pause before the overwrite. Now, if one breathes first, when one starts the overwrite, there may be two breathings on the recording.
