Issue #3461 has been updated by Nigel Kersten.
Volcane, so long as it's obvious *where* to get them from, I see no downside in removing them from the tarball, and there's a definite upside in having only one authoritative location for such things. Matthias, we tend to build debian unstable debs pretty quickly, and git-buildpackage gives us the same ability as bzr-builder. I'm so glad such tools exist nowadays. This is somewhat orthogonal to the bug report, but I really don't see any reason why we need to have Debian and Ubuntu packages differ at all. ---------------------------------------- Bug #3461: Debian init scripts not packaged in ext along with others http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/3461 Author: Michael DeHaan Status: Needs design decision Priority: Low Assigned to: Nigel Kersten Category: installation Target version: Affected version: 0.25.4 Keywords: Branch: When installing from source, I'd like it if setup.rb installed init scripts for me, possibly as an option, or otherwise they were at least there for me to copy. SuSE, RedHat, gentoo, etc all seem to be in tree, but there are no Debian examples. This makes a source install a little more difficult on that platform as I have to furnish my own init scripts.
