hi all. thanks for the reply, mark. no, i didn't install it in "\Program Files" -- it put itself in the default location, "\Python26" and i also went back to do a complete uninstall/reinstall. i ran a "python -O pyscript.py" to update the .pyc and .pyo files and then rebooted the web server. still the same error.
mark, what's the scoop with the python dir or the virtualization you mentioned? the install was default but if there are permissions or something that need to be a certain way i'll definitely look into it. otherwise i think this is our last gasp with python/asp for now. thanks, matt
