Try creating a ground and a 9 vertex plane, "Transfer Attributes" in world-space along normal plane -> ground, and viola, you've got vertices that snaps to the ground. Now you can e.g. attach follicles to that plane to get translate and rotation out of it, and use those to drive your wheels.
