The only thing I don't like about Wing -- aside from having to pay actual money -- is that it runs under X11, the only app I have (so far) that requires it. The different (anti-Mac) key-bindings are annoying, but I believe I could change that if I took the time to build a "personality" in Wing. The performance hit from X11 doesn't seem to be severe, and it plays well with Virtual Desktop Pro (which I'm also going to have to pay for because after five days I can't live without it).

This is an old thread, (and an old topic) but my question is about the state of the "new tools" described in Bob's presentation at last year's pyCon.
Scanning the archives, I see Jack and Just have talked about a PyObjC-based python ide since 2002. I've really anxious to see how they are coming along.
I've used PyOXIDE, and am suitably impressed, but it is still way too crashy for daily use. There are some promising wx-based IDEs which run fine (PyPE, PythonCard Editor, SPE), but none include a debugger, and most look just a little "off" .
So, what news?
