The reshape features tool didn't work for me. I was able to snap to the underlying layer by styling it with the xml file I have included. I first added the xml file to the style manager. Then I styled the underlying layer with the added style. For creating new features that have the same geometry as the feature of the underlying layer I think I might try to copy that feature and paste it into my edit-layer?
