I consider using mkgmap to create a real Garmin map less a hack than
doing single *img and gmapsupp.img support. In fact it should be
possible to include all your map tiles into a single map collection. And
if you add a new one you simply rerun the script. Plus the advantage
that GT will list and remember that collection, allows you to overlay
SRTM data and to crosscheck the quality of the Garmin tiles with the
help of raster maps. Give it a try!

Yes, on some devices screenshot has to be flipped on others it's ok. As
you know the device string [1] you can apply the flip on a device base.

[1] use the device string not the id. The id changes for devices. The
string never changes. Different device ids seems to mark devices from
different language zones.
