I've noticed that the wpt (waypoint) elements in the GPX files created
by QLandkarteGT and by my GPS just have lat and lon attributes with
decimal degree values; there doesn't appear to be any specification of
the datum/projection.  (I usually have the GPS set to display OSGB
grid references, because I'm usually using OS maps.)

Am I right in thinking that all the applications store the coördinates
in one standard system, and convert them on the fly to whatever system
the GPS or the mapping software is set to display?
