Hi,

this is only partially related to the initial question, but maybe useful:
GPSBabel [1] provides (at least basic) support for reading .fit files and
is released under GPL-2(+).

Their implementation does only allow reading .fit files, but maybe it
can be used as a basis for .fit support in QMS.
