I can remember that this is not a new topic but I did not manage to find it in the mailing list archive.

I also remember that Oliver was quite clear about this and his answer was that with good designed maps, features appear when they have to, then being able to modify the detail level (like in QLGT, Basecamp, or on Garmin GPSr) is not necessary.

OK this is clear.


But as I was playing with OpenTopoMaps, I found that paths (black thin discontinous lines, the most important feature for an outdoor map) diseappeared really early when zooming out with QMS. In Basecamp, using "Medium" setting, there was at least a 1 zoom level difference.

In fact it seems that QMS fixed detail level is equivalent to "Low" setting is Basecamp (see example with OpenMtbMaps on attached screenshot).


Then my request is not to add a new feature to QMS (as I know that it implies coding work and regression risk), but to modify the fixed detail level one or two steps up.

What do you think ?
