Hi Wolfgang, you can change the path of the tile cache via File > Setup Map Paths
Directly at the top of the window ("Root path of the tile cache for online
maps:").
You can safely delete the tile caches; missing tiles will simply be downloaded
again once used.
The existance of two cache is most likely not related to "I want maps" -
if I was to guess, I would assume that "the second" of your tile caches is
the result of either your crash of QMapShack or some kind of configuration
issue.
Please try the following:
Change the path of the tile cache to some other directory and delete
both old caches.
The only QMS cache now should be stored in the directory you configured.
