Well, who many lookups/second (or, how many mail messages) are crossing the
server at any one point? 45 thousand is a significant number of users in an
LDAP directory. Perhaps you need to tweak some OpenLDAP settings (check their
site, I haven't been maintaining an LDAP server in ages).
