I had a similar problem with my indexing under 1.X. It was taking an
extremely long time to do lookups... Nearly a second of CPU usage on slapd
per lookup. It turned out I was using a bad index in my slapd.conf.. eq
is the only index type I needed for said fields. Everything is happy now
and a P-II 400 handles well over 60K lookups for SMTP only per day, and I
havn't counted the POP's in a bit but, I know when I benched it, the box
could maintain well over 100+/second. This is in a database of 20K users,
on FreeBSD.
Hope that helps.
