This is incorrect. qmail does SMTP. In your rcpthosts, put all the domains for which you accept mail. In locals put only the domains which should be received locally, or leave it empty if no one should receive mail locally. In smtproutes, put an entry to forward all mail for your domains to your relay. For example, my setup on server webdev.nettonettech.com, which should deliver no mail locally and only forward to mail.nettonettech.com: $ cat /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts nettonettech.com mail.nettonettech.com www.nettonettech.com webdev.nettonettech.com $ cat /var/qmail/control/locals (empty) $ cat /var/qmail/control/smtproutes webdev.nettonettech.com:mail.nettonettech.com
