Cygwin is still on Python 2.4.3. I can't see when they intend moving to 2.5 
(there's no mention on the mailing list).

So using the old way is going to slow down development for a significant chunk 
of users. Looking at the download stats, .zip downloads exceed .gz downloads by 
a ratio of 4:1

As an aside, the new quickstart package is the most popular download for 0.6.6. 
Looks like that was a good move :-)
