I agree with the concept!  20-20 hindsight is always useful for coming up
with a better design. :-)

It may or may not be too late for the guys working on 0.8 to consider a
change of this magnitude.  I can't speak for Sebastian, Fabian, Andreas, et
al, but I expect they'll chime in.
