there is already a bunch of trick for IE in the qooxdoo source,
have a look at the comments in there ... I don't think there is
much magic performance gain left in the cards. BUT if you structure
your applications well, it can be quite bearable on IE too ... and
it has the nice side effect of being even snappier on a standard
compilant browser ...

the main trick in this area is to re-use widgets, so if you have a
form for example, do not re-create the form every time you load
data from the server, create the form once and fill  in the data
...
