I looked into this once before and if I remember correctly:


The Eudora client issues delete commands as each email message is successfully downloaded.

        The MS Outlook Express client issues delete commands
        after all email messages are successfully downloaded.

There is a compile time option and I am sure a config file option to described
in the manual that will delete all mail when you disconnect.
This is dangerous though as people may lose theire mail
