For 3.
I think the Visual Studio is free to use for schools and kids can download the
express version (Install the whole Visual Studio framework first then the
VB.net modules). We have the Microsoft Licencing website to download all our MS
software from due to the licencing we have. I assume EQ schools have similar.

A few questions.

1. Graeme, asking as a died-in-the-wool fossil who may be retiring within a
year or two, how much different is VB Express compared to VB6? In other words,
how much learning is needed to get up to speed with Express?

2. Graeme, the current version of VB Express is the 2010 version. How
compatible is that with
your VB Express textbook?

3. Anyone - presumably VB Express is free for schools, as well. Correct?
If so, how does the
techie access it and install it across the network, legally? Download one
copy, register it, and put that one copy across the network? Or is it trickier
than that?

4. An unrelated question - is there a one-to-one correspondence between
members of the email list
and the Edna forum? Do I reach the same people either way?

TIA for any replies.

Rex

PS I'm still hoping there is a magic way to get VB6 to work on my Windows 7
64-bit Professional
and on our school laptop, as I have 10 years of resources I have developed for
it. So far no one has said 'impossible' so I am still hoping ...

Rex,

You really are one of the VB6 survivors, but I'm sure you'd love VB Express.

One of the major advantages, from an educational view, is that the kids can
download it for free on their home computers.

regards,

Graeme
