I was never able to get a state subsidized van, so eight years ago we bought a 
converted RV van, a 1990 Chevrolet with the sufficiently raised roof.  I have 
to tilt back to go in and out but I have it down to a science.  We bought a 
used lift except for a couple of minor things it has worked great.  Not the 
most stylish, but it is real workhorse, and my total investment was $5000.  I 
doubt that I will ever buy another van so we just think faithfully maintain 
this one.  This worked for me.  Joan
