I was never able to get a state subsidized van, so eight years ago we bought a converted RV van, a 1990 Chevrolet with the sufficiently raised roof. I have to tilt back to go in and out but I have it down to a science. We bought a used lift except for a couple of minor things it has worked great. Not the most stylish, but it is real workhorse, and my total investment was $5000. I doubt that I will ever buy another van so we just think faithfully maintain this one. This worked for me. Joan My first van was done the same exact way. Husband installed the lift. It was a Ford though & he put a later model grill on it. My kids called it the Hoopty Mobile. Dianna
