I swear by Sarasa gel retractable pens I get from Staples.  They write very
easily (no pressure needed), come in lots of colors, dry fast (so don't usually
smudge), and (unlike other gel pens), they're waterproof!  They claim to be
archive quality.

I'm C5/C6, so no hand-function, and I have calcified-curled fingers (not
straightened).  I "hold" a pen between the base of my index and middle fingers,
then rest it on the top of my thumb ...and it stays pretty well.
