yes, i got the veralite icon (air) back. it's high and only about 2 inches from
my lower back to my butt. it looks like an office chair. if it didn't work, i
was going to ask for the jay 3. my cushion is a veralite too. i like the
back....my butt doesn't stick out either. that was not cool.

i've been researching new cushions & backs.
The Evolution got 4.3 out of 5 stars and 91% recommend it. But I like the
Meridian due to better pressure map and dual chamber to keep you from sliding
out & sit on tail bone.
I drive my own van and need good balance. I never had air cushion before. I am
wondering if the Wave design would help stability?
Did you try the Evolution Wave?
http://www.varilite.com/products_detail.aspx?prodID=3
 Did you try Meridian? likes,dislikes?

I was going to request the Meridian Wave from dealer to check out .

Here is my list iof cushions:
Cushion that I have been reviewing
 Comfort Company-Vector X...what difference between Vector X & Adjuster X
Comfort Company Adjuster X..more options than regular Adjuster??
Varilite- Meridian.....maybe Meridian Wave if better stability
 Jay-Fusion
 Jay2 Deep Contour
 Roho-Hybird Elite
 Ride Design Java

my wheelchair rep has been back and says she'll be back with a
different back. and back until i'm comfortable with my chair. but it's just so
far off her "measurements", i don't think this is right. i guess i'll be
finding out. it's only my 2nd chair through medicaid in 25 yrs. but now, 25 yrs
later, scoliosis has developed from not sitting correctly and i'm finding these
chairs very uncomfortable. just venting because i think i'm going to be stuck
with something i don't like. to get the back close to right, the legs are too
long, etc. it is however my first recline, i had hoped a smoother transfer of
chairs.

I beg to differ. Knowledge is Power and you have every right to say NO and not
sign the required paperwork until you get exactly what you need. Remember that
providers are guided by you requirements and needs. They must comply with
insurance perimeters and CMS codes. Learn as much about the manufacturer via
the internet. You can try out anything you want. Manufacture Reps are more
than willing. Take Charge of YOUR Life. Otherwise others will.

All companies the same. They do not give a crap about
fitting the best
chair. They should not get away with this.
Until you find a company that really cares and takes the time to
evaluate you, You have to really spend the time to research your self.
Then ask for a demo to try for a few weeks. Read reviews, ask other
users and give it time to adjust for the change. A new different chair
 takes time to adjust to.

I do not think wheelchair manufactures and DME dealers consider people
sitting in wheelchairs for 12 hours a day. They should spend the time in
customers shoes and ride around town and into stores to see what its like.

DME are sparse in rural areas like I live in so there is not many
choices. My friend down the road was just told to find another dealer
after getting his new wheelchair just because he told them and argued
that he never got a chest strap. A chest strap is not much $ but they
 could care less.

Its just another hosing that the disabled get. Here's your wheelchair,
cushion or van, now go away until you can order a new one. Plus, I blame
Med-i-dont-care for not paying for pressure mapping and for better
 equipment.
