Bobbie, you have a Braun VanGater ?  Single post lifts allow faster  access 
to the middle of a van as the platform fold in half.  Personally, I  did 
not like it then and I still don't like it.  But that is me.   Lifting someone 
in an electric wheelchair requires two arms.  Solid  platforms allow for 
better weight distribution for lifting.  Single arm  lifts apply pressure to a 
single, square foot of one side of the van.  The  leaf spring on the lift 
side should be supported with an additional leaf.  Often, because of cost it 
is not done and eventually it will cause the passenger  side will lean 
further to one side.
