Hi all,
As is so often the case with new posts there are many problems /
questions attached, though stick with me as I intend to be in for the
long haul and get involved with the club / attend meets shows etc
(with my old car, 306 cabriolet I was at all of the shows and
arranging meets etc)

anyway after wanting a Quantum for many years I decided to take the
plunge and buy one after selling the 306,

The story goes a bit like this
first and last time I saw a Quantum was in 1995 at a motor show when I
was 15, it was a factory display by the original factory and they let
me sit in the cars and look around and generally pester them for most
of the day for brochures and anything with a picture of a Quantum on,
there and then the cars made a lasting impression on me, fast forward
15 years and here I am with my own 2+2 in white built (ironically) in
1995, ive never driven one and booked a one way ticket on a wing and a
prayer to check out the car having already sent a £200 deposit (going
against all my own advice, but I buy with my heart and not my head).
luckily the car was exactly as described and never missed a beet on
the 400 mile trip home (just as well since I had no breakdown cover
incase the car did not exist), anyway after getting it home and having
a good kip (4 AM walk to train station 2 miles away) ive looked over
the car and I have a few questions I could do with answering, ill list
them in order of priority.

1, drivers seatbelt does not reel out, it was sticky on the journey
back but ok, but now it will not feed out so I cant drive the car, how
do I get to the reel? hopefully the mech just needs an oil?.

2. I need around an extra 4-6" legroom, im 6 ft 3 and driving back
with my knees under my chin was not pleasant (keeping my right foot
off the accelerator was tricky too, probably got a few tickets in the
post), so how can I move the seats back? do they bolt to a flat
surface or is it a bit more tricky, by which I mean are the fixing
bolts predetermined by anything or can I re-drill further back?, in my
mini I made some box section plates tat bolted to the floor and the
seat bolted to that but further back, sound like a plan?

3. the bonnet needs a right good slam to shut, I mean worryingly,
however it aligns up pretty well so I don't think it is out of
adjustment, could it need a new catch? im just worried about damaging
the bodywork by slamming it so hard,
whilst on the subject of bodywork just how durable is it? im rather
big and clumsy and tend to break things (though my job is to fix them)
im paranoid about cracking the bodywork etc even though at 15 years
old its only suffered 2 minor cracks anyway on the bumpers.

4. does anyone have a wiring diagram? or even a build manual in pdf or
something, as the electric windows do not work and are not wired to
the switch, all the wires are on individual spade terminals that have
come off, any help here would be good too.

ill leave it at that for the moment as this is what I need to get the
car useable but im sure there will be more later on.

thankyou all in advance
j king

P.S if anybody wants to buy a hardtop or a towbar for a 2+2 let me
know
