We can check the other faults, but reading the links Gary sent sound 
promising too.

The talk about the power steering switch needing to be a closed circuit is 
useful as that'll drop the revs by 100rpm.  The most likely source could be 
the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) as this has caused similar faults on 
these forums, but it doesn't explain why disconnecting the ISCV improves 
things.

Geoff will also have to make sure that the vehicle speed sensor has clean 
contacts.

How do you read faults on these ECUs, as they have a large connector that is 
the interface and I assume that's where you get the fault code from.
