Those sound like normal running temperatures for an engine.
The stat will probably be 88 or 92 degrees so the temperature will regulate at that normally.

Over 100 degrees isn't a problem, thats why cooling systems are pressurised so they can go over 100 degrees without the water boiling.
If it goes over 110 in traffic then maybe you need a bigger fan.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Pinto - getting it to run cooler in an Xtreme

Question to the pinto powered Xtreme owners.

For a few years now, my Pinto hasn't missed a beat, but I do get
concerned about the temperature when it's stationary in traffic. It
normally runs at about 90 deg, but when in traffic, it generally heads
north of 100 deg. I'm confident that the temperature shown on the
gauge is representative of the actual temperature.

So my question is how to stop this happening ? current thoughts are to
fit an aluminuim radiator and higher capacity fan, cut a hole in the
top of the nose cone just behind the radiator or in the bonnet. Have
thought about wrapping the exhaust headers and an fitting an oil
cooler.

Has anyone done any of the above and seen a cooler running engine ?

Answers from all appreciated.
