The door interior light switches are normally mounted through the front door pillar between the hinges. They are usually aftermarket ones that corrode and make intermittent contact so make sure they are working correctly.

Ok many thanks for that. I tried something today and you could say it was a step forward. When I bought the car I was given 2 keys. Today I used the spare key to unlock the door and nothing happened. (The door opened but no sounds could be heard), when I got out, I used the spare key again but this time locked the car from the passenger side. So far, this seems that doing this DOESN'T activate the alarm. Have you heard of anything like this before?

Also, where in the car are the interior door light switches?!?
