Keith's correct here -- Safe Mode is enabled in Safari, QuickTime, and
Keynote, so compositions that use "unsafe" patches (anything that
takes in user-side private input -- audio, video, filesystem, midi,
etc -- not mouse, keyboard though) won't work as expected, and you'll
see some cute messages in the console (Console.app).
is there a way to disable that? even as an experiment? mannn to get
this gag to work in Keynote would just be peachy...
this worked like a charm in Tiger, but seems to have died in Leopard
Can you elaborate a bit more than just saying "it died"? As in, does
it kernel panic? that's a pretty lousy death, but it's unlikely
(unless you're on Snow Leopard ;). Does it crash? Does it not
operate as expected? If any of those are true, please provide a
kernel panic log, a crash log, a screen shot, or a description of what
it's doing/what you expect.
play the Quartz quicktime and no video, just a sad, sad black screen,
on a Tiger, I get whatever's jammed into the firewire spigot ...no
hard crashes, just no workee
Some of the function calls to float windows over the desktop may have
changed from Tiger to Leopard, but it's nothing insurmountable. a few
lines of code to change, and you should be back in business. We'll
need more details to know which lines those are, however.... :)
yeah, and as much as a geek as I am, I draw the line at hard
coding....scripting for director is hard enough thankyouverymuch....
I'll try and get some source code & detailed description of what
happens from my on-set operator & let you know
I'll play with the Kineme plug & report back
it never ceases to amaze me how something that -I- think should be a
simple use of a program, because it's not really designed that way,
always creates huge hurdles to surmount in order for me to get it to
do what _i_ want it to do
now if someone can tell me how to trigger 6 minis playing a synched
video (in Keynote, for ease) on demand, without using the apple remote
from 2' away, I'll kiss you!
