Those would be great effects to be able to pull off in QC, but the closest you can get is to use something like ImageParticles (maybe with some GLSL?) and then add a fluid sim... Or, take vertex info of a model or something, and place "particles" there, and apply some open cl warping to get those kind of particle to liquid blowout effects... but none of that would likely be as slick as the fairlight thing, and would crawl. I was aware of the depth sorting aspect of the particle system (and the fact it doesn't do that). I didn't really "go there" because it seems like a new stock particle system, or updates to the old, in QC is unlikely. -George Toledo
