Hi Alastair, some times in the past we got "alpha-channel" problems with BoinxTV customers which looks quite the same as your issue. It turned out to be related to a very old Kineme patch (just updated it, and every thing was fine again). Could it be that you migrate your user account from another mac to this MacBook Pro? If so, the custom QC plugins will be copied too and so you don't have a "clean" Lion installation anymore.
