George -- That's a shame about the registry repair program. Do you mind posting the name of the one you used, to forewarn the rest of us.
BTW, in the future you might want to back up your entire partition before using anything that might change the registry. I use Image for Windows ($27, http://www.terabyteunlimited.com). It is a bit geeky and takes awhile to learn how to use it. But once you get over the learning curve, it's very nice and fast.
