I tried XP Repair Pro 2006 based on some reviews I had read on the
web since it was highly rated. It messed up 2 of my computers and a
friends. I did not even let it repair anything. I just ran it in
diag. mode to see what it thought was wrong. I did not let it fix
anything, and it still messed up 2 computers. It did not trash the
computer, but strange things now happen that did not happen before I ran it.

I normally use Acronic True Image V8, which I like a lot, but as
Murhpy's law states, this was one time had failed to do that!!
Another Murphy''s law was I also failed to backup the Registry before
starting. It is one of those hind sight issues, I know what I should
have done but failed to do it.

I have tried some Repair Points but they have not fixed the problem
that when QP start processing the posting of data, it will not
allowing any other program to come to the front.

I help repair another friends computer that was infected with a
virus. I tried using another top ranked Registry repair on his
computer. It also failed to fix his registry. If I let it fix it, it
would not boot after it was shut down. I finally used Winternals to
restore his computer useing Restore Point to a point prior to the
infections. I cannot remember the name of that program. Since then I
have read more about Registry repair programs and many statements
claim they did more damage than they ever repaired.
