Hi: This is generally true, however, soundmax cards are known to be
particularly problematic with asio4all, since their underlying MME
support isn't so good by default.
I've tested this using AD1980 and AD1985 chipsets, as well as a couple
others I don't remember at this time. This probably depends on other
resources of the system, though I've seen other non-pro cards perform
much better with Asio4all. Then again, I've seen other things that are
just as bad. Don't ever try using it with an older Yamaha YMF card, for
example.
