Wow, I didn't really think of it that way, but your idea makes perfect sense. I'm all for it!
Looking forward to the release, whenever you have some spare time. *smile*

Hi,

Regarding the past overwrite idea, I recommend at present that you use the
Clear function before you paste. Note also that unless you specifically use
the Merge tool, the paste inserts empty bars. So perhaps you can do the
paste overwrite by suing Clear followed by Merge?

Regarding the changing of note length, I reckon this could be an addition to
the existing Set Length tool. I think it could work very much like the
Change Velosity tool:

The Change Velocity has a percentage of the original and an offset to add.
Similarly, the Set Length tool could have a percentage and an offset
(currently, it just has a fixed length).

So, for example with this extra field you could:

1. To set all notes to a given length (existing behaviour), set the
percentage to 0% and the length to the desired length.

2. To change note length to be a percentage of their existing lengths: set
the percentage to whatever value you need and the offset length to 0.

3. To add or subtract a certain length from each note, set the percentage
to 100% and then give the offset length as needed.

What do you think?

Hear from you soon.

James.

Subject: QWS List feature requests

Hi,
Just had a few feature requests to make for the next version of this great
program.
First, a paste overwrite feature. It would make things easier when copying
and pasting parts.
Second, something like the time expand, but for the lengths only. For
example, make notes 50 percent of their original length. Also maybe you
could have a tool to add or subtract a fixed amount to each note's length.
Like make each note one beat longer than it was before.
Am I making sense?
