midi clock may be what is causing the issue. I have windows 7 and qws has alwyas worked like a charm. I play all mi midis on it as well! also, make sure that you clean up all tracks before playing, transposing, editting. This is good practice, especially if you have midi files created or obtained from other sources. Soundfonts are probably also a good idea. Since bassmidi can be opened more than one time (you can use it in winamp and qws at the same time) make sure there is nothing that has the port opened.
