Well considering that the synchro start option is control+y, and that there are few commands close to it that you will ever use, if you ever press it, just check your status bar with, well, insert+page down if you use Jaws. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nicole Massey" <[email protected]>

Nope, no playback port. This is only a controller, and it doesn't even come
up as a playback port option here. This is a very stripped down setup.
I did, however, figure out the problem. For some reason synchro-start got
toggled on. I realized this when I loaded another file and it wouldn't play
until I hit a key. I would love to see that key set configured to something
a bit harder to accidentally hit.

Nicole, in the track properties, it likely had the playback port assigned to
your keyboard. Change that, make certain all tracks reflect it, & u should
be ok.

Nope, tried that when I was doing basic troubleshooting. Found a track

Ports are okay, with BassMIDI as the first port and the Microsoft
wavetable as the second -- I had to reenable it to give me more testing
options.

One thing -- I didn't have the keyboard connected before, using QWS as
a playback device, which it should be able to handle, and has handled
in the past. I just connected the keyboard, and it now works, but I'd
still like ideas on what might have caused this as if it happens once
it can happen again. (This is not my preferred composing environment,
and so I don't keep a controller plugged in all the time, but still
may want to audition or work on things from time to time without
dragging the keyboard and stand out of my closet)

O, gosh, Nicole, I don't mean to insult u, but u didn't perchance
accidentally mute &/or solo tracks, did u?

Also, how's the volume of your midi devices in control panel? What
instruments are assigned to which ports?

If the midis were played with Windows Media Player I could say it put
the volume to 0 when you closed it and you needed to go to the
control panel to reset it, but since they are played with Winamp,
well I thought about those gm reset, gs reset, etc, but I guess those
commands send messages to the keyboard and not to the computer, so
not
sure...

No joy -- doesn't work with either midi thru on or off.

I guess you made the same mistake I did a few days ago: check Midi
Thru

The shortcut is control+h.

QWS has stopped responding.
I get no sound from it either using BassMIDI or the Microsoft GS
Wavetable Synthesizer. MIDI files still play in Winamp, as does all
other
audio.
I've
changed nothing on my setup. Files I got full response from a couple
of days ago now give me nothing.
Any ideas?
