Yes, and BTW, there are three formats, not just two.

I may have the first two backwards. Format 0 saves everything in a single
track file, while Format 2 saves tracks as individual tracks. (Again, I may
have these backwards)  When the Standard MIDI File specification was first
developed there were still sequencers, mostly hardware ones, that were
single track sequencers, so they needed the different specifications.
Standard MIDI File type 2 was developed for the sequencers, like the ones in
workstations, that allow the composer to build patterns then order them
using a "song" track to set the order of the different sequences. It is not
used much outside of that environment these days.

Does anyone know the difference between the two formats? The NinterMiDI I
use seems to use the former but if I am not mistaken, QWS can only work with
the latter.
