Hi all, ok, i've just reinstalled qws on this new laptop, had forgotten just
what a beautifully elegant piece of software this is for what it does, thank
you to the creators.
My main reason for installing it was that i have a yamaha p155 digital stage
piano and a large number of piano midis and wanted something easier than
transfferring to a flash drive all the time etc.
Since i already had a um1 for interfacing between a pc and a keyboard i
thought this might work well, and it does and i'm having a ball with that on
qws n both directions.
However, a couple of questions particuarly for seasoned qws users, etc.
For playing midis on a pc i've up until now just been using winamp with a
plug in someone gave me ages ago from i believe a program called synthfont.
It allows me to use sound fonts on a laptop and play midis with winamp.
However, you can configure only which sound font you use, you can't play
through output ports, np i just delete the plug in and reinstall when i want
it, however, now i have qws, surely there's a better way.
So:
1. recommendations for good software synths, mainly for playback not live
play, i have plenty for that between the piano and the ios things i've been
messing with, so latency isn't a big issue i don't believe.
I'd preffer something multi timbral of course and not overly expensive, i
just spent a bit on the setup itself with interface for ios devices and a
nice pevey amp and a few things so I don't want to ask my SO for too much
more investment lol.
2: any tips or tricks or ideas that anyone thinks of, for example, there's
no multi file play or random play or juke box mode or anything of course on
qws and nor do i think their should be, but what are people using for such
apart from winamp etc, see above.
Thanks in advance for your time and thanks again for qws, the ease of setup
and use makes me wonder why there isn't a small fee for this program, there
should be and had there been or were there I'd happily pay one.
Cheers!
