Yeah, that's one of the few things I miss about my other sequencer -- QWS doesn't chase controllers when starting playback in a file, so values don't change until another controller message is sent.

You'd only have to do that if you used the event list in any case, the sequencer won't know when you want that patch change to no longer exist, as it can't guess what you're thinking.
